NBC Grabs Most Bandwidth with Olympics Apps

NBCUniversal’s Olympics live streaming accounts for 34% of total bandwidth consumption amongst major US networks, according to the US’s National Inflation Association, bumping the once bandwidth hog Netflix down to second place, at least temporarily.

Netflix has dipped to 25% of bandwidth consumption. NBC delivered 102.6 million online video streams by the halfway point in the games, 45 million of which were live streams, marking the largest live streaming, even in the US.

During the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, 75.5 million videos were streamed, and 14 million were live streams.
