Microsoft Moves Into Media World With News Service

Microsoft will be launch its own news service on the MSN Web
site. The news service is set to launch with Windows 8 later
this year. Bob Visse, general manager at MSN product
management group, described the move as a “big, multi-million
dollar investment” to create a “decent-sized media operation.”
The news service will aggregate news from sources Reuters,
Associated Press and NBC, and produce some of its own content
as well. In July, Microsoft sold its 50% stake of the Web site to the Comcast-owned NBCUniversal. The MSN Web site
receives around 480 million visitors per month worldwide.
