TiVo Offers Software Developer Kit to Third Parties

TiVo has opened a Developer Channel and launched a software
developer kit that lets third party developers create apps for
TiVo gear, including TiVo DVRs and second-screen devices, such
as the newly released TiVo Stream. Like Apple, TiVo will be
the gatekeeper and have the final say on which apps are
allowed. It also has a new deal for the cableco Midcontinent
Communications, which covers parts of Minnesota, Wisconsin,
North Dakota and South Dakota, to distribute its DVRs.
