Acer Launches $199 Chromebook

We always maintained that Chromebooks had to be dirt cheap so
that companies would consider them tools. Acer hit a new low
with its C7 Chromebook at $199, beating out Samsung’s recent
$249 Chromebook. The always-Internet-connected Acer C7 has an
11.6-inch 1366x768p screen, an Intel processor, 320GB of
storage, Wi-Fi and, of course, the Chrome OS and browser. It
weighs about three pounds and is about 1-inch thick.
Unfortunately, it operates only about 3.5 hours between
battery charges, so it comes up short in comparison to
tablets. Maybe Acer and Google should try building one with an
ARM processor.
