BitTorrent Makes Deal with 20 Smart TV Makers

BitTorrent said it has reached deals with 20 smart TV makers
to bring content – both legal and pirated – to those
platforms. BitTorrent CEO Eric Klinker told Multichannel News
models that they may ship out as early as this holiday season
in Europe and Asia. BitTorrent uses peer-to-peer technology to
bring content to viewers, and is known for the widespread
illegal use of the technology by users to pirate content.
BitTorrent is funded by venture capital firms Accel Partners,
DCM and DAG Ventures.
