TW Cable Rolls Out 2 New Broadband Services in Google Fiber’s
Birthplace

Time Warner Cable (TW Cable) has two new services for its
Kansas City footprint where it competes against Google Fiber.
As it has done in other areas, TW Cable launched a Wi-Fi
hotspot network that is accessible for free to its residential
broadband subscribers (standard tier and above) and to
business customers. Non-subs can connect but must pay a fee.
TWC now has about 8,000 hot spots in Kansas City; New York
City; Charlotte, NC, and Los Angeles. It also launched a low-
cost broadband service called Starter that provides 5 Mbps
down for $9.95 per month. It said about 85,000 students in 190
schools will be eligible for the service.
