Huawei, TDC Denmark and Cable Euro announced the successful launch of the first DOCSIS 3.1 project in Europe last week at ANGA COM 2016, the biggest exhibition and congress for broadband, cablecos and satcos in Europe.

TDC said it selected Huawei distributed-converged cable access platform (D-CCAP) solution, which employs DOCSIS 3.1 technologies, to provide Gigabit services for users.
TDC Denmark CTO Carsten Bryder, Cable Euro president Matthias Kurth and Huawei’s president of its access network product line jointly made the announcement.
The maximum downstream bandwidth is up to 10 Gbps, which TDC said should meet the bandwidth demand for the next 5–10 years. D-CCAP unified access platform provides TDC with FTTH and coax cable networks convergence at the access and metro layers to minimize network rollout and maintenance costs.
It’ll use the service to digitalized video services such as broadcast video, video on demand (VOD) and 4K UHD video.
