The video community ffwd (fast forward) has launched a new online TV
experience for the Twitter community called Twitmatic.
Twitmatic is a video site built on ffwd’s video player that lets
people view videos that are being shared on Twitter in “real-time.”
The service is in a beta form right now and looks a little rough. It
features only one video on its page, has no search function and gives
a couple of Twitter-related features. With no searching, video choice
or user selection, it’s hard to imagine how the service will get any
traffic or what other portals will drive traffic to it.
The main site for ffwd is a video aggregator mostly for TV shows on
Hulu and comedy videos from College Humor. It has a homepage feed
that looks like a Twitter feed for the entire community and a remote
control type feature for Web video.
Twitter hasn’t really made much money off Twitter, so it seems likely
that a video-Twitter with no ads won’t make much money either.
