Vecima’s Spectrum Signal Processing division has launched a high-definition video encoder that will enable broadband service providers "to cost-effectively deliver live, broadcast quality HD television over IP networks" like the Net. It said the Spectrum video encoding solutions can be used in a number of applications in the video delivery market including IP television, remote security monitoring, digital program distribution and networked video.
It offers high-quality, real-time encoding of up to two HD analog video inputs to MPEG-2 HD with stereo audio encoding. Advanced encoding techniques are used to generate an MPEG transport stream for transmission over IP.
The company said the next upgrade will offer cost-effective, real-time encoding of 1080i to H.264 with stereo audio encoding and closed captioning. Other possible upgrades include SDI video input, ASI output, QAM RF output and DVB-parallel output.
Spectrum president Douglas Fast said the product is "in line with our strategic plan to expand into new markets by leveraging our core technologies to provide commercial, in-demand products at competitive prices." |
