NTL, the UK's dominant cable TV service and a major broadband
service, has teamed with file-sharing firm BitTorrent and P2P
caching solutions provider CacheLogic on a technical trial to
evaluate ultra-high-speed legal video downloads in the UK. The trial
download service, scheduled to start in April, will feature licensed
video content including movies, music videos and television
programs.
The trial will use BitTorrent's file-sharing P2P client and
CacheLogic's P2P content caches to accelerate delivery and reduce
the network costs associated with P2P downloads.
