| Accenture, the global management consulting, technology services and
outsourcing company, has acquired Digiplug SAS, a French company
that outsources mobile-content repurposing and distribution services
to the music and communications industries. It bought Digiplug from
Faith Inc of Kyoto, Japan. No terms were disclosed.
Digiplug, founded in 1998, supplies music and video manufacturing
and delivery services to major music labels, wireless carriers and
mobile device manufacturers.
Accenture said the acquisition of Digiplug's expertise in digital
content distribution would add to its leadership in digital media
solutions and will allow it to offer a ready-to-market suite of
technology and business services.
Simultaneously, Accenture launched Accenture Digital Media Services,
which, together with Digiplug, will provide a solution set to
content owners and distributors that will help them adapt their
business processes and systems to stay ahead of the explosive demand
for digital content and services.
"The revolution in digital media is creating both immediate
challenges and exciting opportunities," said Greg Douglass, global
managing director of Accenture's media and entertainment practice.
"Digiplug will enhance our ability to help clients transform
themselves for the new digital world. Clients today require
sophisticated distribution capabilities with the ability to create
new product bundles and content offerings, which in turn will
generate new revenue streams."
Accenture said that industry analysts predict the mobile content and
services industry will grow by almost 70% over the next five years
to more than $150 billion.
According to Douglass, the acquisition of Digiplug is the first step
in a larger effort to further strengthen and build Accenture Digital
Media Services "to provide a market-leading, comprehensive suite of
digital content services that are scalable globally."
Accenture Digital Media Services will focus on helping companies
that produce and distribute rich media content to optimize how they
store, manufacture, distribute, track and exploit digital content
while providing a consistent and personalized consumer experience.
"We strongly believe that this acquisition will enable us to become
the pre-eminent provider for companies seeking to be the high
performers of the digital media world," said Digiplug CEO Boris
Lacroix. |
